What You'll Need
- A passport valid for at least 6 months from your travel date
- A hospital invitation letter confirming your treatment (Medova arranges this free once your case is accepted)
- Proof of sufficient funds for your treatment and stay
- A recent passport-style photograph
- Confirmed travel itinerary (a tentative booking is usually acceptable)
The Application Process
Most nationalities can apply online through India's official e-Visa portal. Processing typically takes 3–5 business days once your hospital invitation letter is ready, though we recommend applying at least two weeks before travel to allow buffer time.
The Medical Visa is generally issued for the duration of treatment, up to a maximum of one year, and — unlike a standard tourist visa — allows multiple entries, which matters if your treatment plan involves a follow-up visit.
Bringing a Companion
India also offers a linked Medical Attendant Visa, allowing up to two companions to accompany you under the same treatment justification. Each attendant needs their own passport and application, referencing your hospital invitation letter.
